Kitt, your comment stayed with me. I found myself making a mental list of the kinds of people who would be discouraged by the sentiment expressed in my little card. I thought of two groups primarily: (a) prisoners of all kinds, and (b) all the millions of people on the planet, especially children, living in poverty, destined to repeat their parents' lives of poverty. So now I'm really bummed out. But also really grateful for my own luck at being born into comfortable circumstances. Good mental exercise!
