Annoying things.


Some years ago my friend SEC started a list of things that annoyed her. I've watched this list, now listS, grow over the years, and now SEC has graciously allowed me to put her lists on a blog. So here they are. Two of them. More to follow. I'll make no deletions, although I may add an item or two.

My list of Eds:

Edmund White: Openly gay novelist and critic. Born 1940. Teaches creative writing at Princeton.

Edward Douglass White, Jr.: Chief Justice appointed by Pres. Taft. Famous for antitrust work. Lived 1845-1921; served 1910-1921. Father was a Louisiana governor and Congressman.

Edward Higgins (“Ed”) White II: First American Astronaut to conduct a space walk. Born 1930. Killed in 1967 during an Apollo 1 training accident.

Edmund Wilson: Author, preeminent 20th century critic, and magazine editor of note. Lived 1895-1972.

Edmund Beecher Wilson: Biologist who wrote about the cell. Lived 1856-1939.

Edward Adrian Wilson: English polar explorer, physician, naturalist, painter, and ornithologist. Lived 1972-1912.

Edward O. “(E.O.”) Wilson: Father of Sociobiology considered one of the 25 most influential people in America. Born 1929. Still living (Harvard).

Edward Wilson: Matt Damon’s character’s name in the CIA film, “The Good Shepherd.” Based on James Angleton.

Edwin H. Wilson: American Unitarian and humanist leader who helped write the Humanist Manifestos. Lived 1898–1993.

Edwin P. Wilson: CIA agent convicted with illegally selling weapons to Libya. Born 1928, released from prison on Sept. 14, 2004.
