Hi Kitt, Isn't it beautiful? My sister and brother-in-law and dad did the spot-picking (and scattering). Maybe my mom DID ask for that spot. Kathy?? I know it was close to the house where she was born.
Seven years later we scattered my dad in the Potomac River very close by (he was the older one by 5 years but lingered 8 beyond her...and drank and ate unhealthy food with abandon...life has a sense of humor). My dad asked that he also end up scattered in the Potomac just a few hundred yards from Kathy and Bernie's home, shown in an earlier post, which is where my mom lived part of her youth, and where George, also shown in a recent post, was born in 2004 AND across the 'street' from the house where my dad was born in 1917! now where was I??). Oh yeah, when my dad asked to be scattered in that part of the Potomac he noted that he would flow downstream and meet up with my mom, who of course had already passed that way since the stream she was scattered in fed into the Potomac, and they could resume their bickering. Poor mom. She had only an 8-yr respite from the bickering. Who knows, maybe she missed it. [I'm 99% sure of all those facts, with the possible exception of the details of what stream flows into another.]
That actually IS the Potomac, just up the river from us (maybe 5 miles or so) and just below the source at Fairfax Stone(maybe 1 mile or so). I don't know how Dad picked the spot, but he is the one who did. Mom actually wanted to be scattered in the Chesapeake Bay, we all figured she would end up there anyway. Thanks for posting the picture. Beautiful remembrance.

What a pretty spot. You (or mom) chose well.
