I couldn't stop myself from breaking off the dead digitalis flowers once they turned brown. And now there's new growth!
And those ugly "trunks" on the left are from my yellow butterfly bush that I clearly didn't prune properly. I got it a year ago and what everyone said was true: you've got to prune brutally. Hard for me to learn that lesson. I may cut it back to the ground (in the fall? next spring?) and see what happens.
